How to obtain work permit of Georgia?

Starting from 1 March 2026, a series of legislative amendments will enter into force in Georgia, fundamentally changing the legal status of foreign nationals in the country.

Under the new regulations, as of 1 March 2026, all foreign citizens employed or self-employed in Georgia will be required to obtain a work permit. Obtaining this permit will be mandatory in order for a foreign national to continue engaging in employment or entrepreneurial activities within Georgia.

Furthermore, the amendments introduce sector-specific quotas applicable to all areas of employment and commercial activity.

In addition, the new legislation provides that, after obtaining a work permit, every foreign national must also secure either a labor residence permit or a labor visa in order to lawfully reside and work in Georgia.
